Director of corporate relations at Pivovarna Laško Union, as well as president of the Young Managers Section of the Manager Association.

Why did you decide to accept the role of Ambassador of the Women’s EHF EURO 2022?

When I received the invitation from the RZS, I was pleased with two things: first, that the main message of the organizer of such an exceptional event for women is women’s empowerment, and that in the role of ambassador I can also contribute to strengthening our voice. Namely, achieving gender equality and empowering women is an unfinished business of our time and the greatest human rights challenge in our world. Unfortunately, Slovenia is no exception.

Why is it worth fighting for a greater role for women in society?

Living in balance is simply nicer and better. For all. Albert Einstein illustrated balance in life as riding a bicycle. If we want to keep it, we have to keep moving. And the wheels of gender equality as a society need to be turned more decisively forward. There is a gender gap that has widened in the last two years due to the pandemic. According to the latest estimates of the World Economic Forum, it will take the next 136 years to fill this gap. I see the Women’s EHF EURO 2022 effort and our cooperation with the main message of women’s empowerment as a common strengthened voice and a contribution to achieving the goal sooner. Much sooner.

How important is the concept of sustainable development in your everyday life?

You live sustainability first, so that you can brighten the world around you and change it for the better by connecting and collaborating. A strong impetus for this is certainly the unique opportunity to be the first generation to end poverty, just as we may be the last to be able to save the planet.
With this mission, the United Nations has set global goals for sustainable development by 2030, in all three dimensions – economic, environmental and social. This gives hope that the world will be better in 2030. We have less than a decade of travel ahead of us, which requires clear action and concrete answers. I remain optimistic with the awareness that we are not yet halfway through the hard work and efforts that lie ahead.

What do you think are the main parallels between sports and business?

If I want to highlight only the first ones that I immediately recognize, they are “leadership”, the strength of team spirit, all the setbacks to succeed in the end, motivation and perseverance.
But even for more than parallels, I would highlight the synergy between sport and business. Great sports teams are often led by an inspiring character with strong motivational skills – something that many leaders can take on.
But given the role of the ambassador, I can’t miss the key, which is empowering women. In both business and sports, where, I hope, an awakening is happening with all the effort.

What is your attitude towards sports and especially handball?

I grew up with sports, which largely co-created me with all the defeats and victories and gave me a good journey for life. Both personal and business. Sport is something that connects, inspires and uplifts us as a nation, even in these extraordinary times and challenges we are witnessing today. I see this as the greatest inspiration for handball and the European Women’s Handball Championship, which – with the fact that it will take place in Slovenia – will be exceptional. Of course, we will cheer the loudest for our Slovenian handball players and give them the best support.

Which of the ambassadors do you know best and which do you appreciate?

A woman can have power in her own right, but women together have an impact. In addressing the challenges ahead, the competition strategy has long since ceased to work. The power of cooperation is the real power of women that changes for the better. Inclusive and for the well-being of all, men and women.
I see this as our, ambassadors’ mission. From long-term cooperation with some of us, lasting friendships, alliances and co-creations were born. I believe that with our cooperation we will further strengthen and expand the circle of ambassadors. I am grateful and proud to know them because we are better together.
