Between November 4 and 20, Slovenia will co-host the largest women’s sports event in the country’s history. Along with Montenegro (Podgorica) and North Macedonia (Skopje), the Women’s European Handball Championship will be held in Celje and Ljubljana.

Initially, eight participating national teams will arrive in Slovenia, which represents half of the participants in the championship of the old continent. The cities of Celje and Ljubljana will initially be the venues for the group stages of the tournament. A part of the main stage of the competition will then take place in the Slovenian capital, which will also host all the final duels for the title of the new European champions.

National teams from Norway, Hungary, Croatia, and Switzerland will initially perform in Ljubljana’s Stožice Arena, while the Slovenians will face Denmark, Sweden, and Serbia in Zlatorog Hall.

Without volunteers we simply cannot imagine holding the biggest competitions on the international level, and it will be no different this time. As many times before volunteers will be one of the supporting pillars of the organization of the competition. In addition to performing tasks that ensure the smooth running of the championship, they will contribute to a positive atmosphere and provide support to all participants of the championship: the organizing committee, members of the European and Slovenian handball federations, media representatives, fans, and, of course, handball players and other members of the best women’s European national teams.

Terms for volunteering

The volunteers will perform their tasks during the European Championship, which, as already mentioned, will take place between November 4 and 20. Work will start at both locations already in the final days before the start of the competition. While in Ljubljana the latter will be completed in the days after the end of the championship, the end of the work in Celje will be in the days after the end of the first part of the competition (November 8).
