DRAW OF GROUPS AT LJUBLJANA CASTLE

Ljubljana Castle will be the city where all eyes of handball fans will be focused this Thursday. The groups of the first part of the Women’s EHF Euro 2022 will be drawn in the Slovenian capital at 5 pm. Slovenia is in the third quality group.

With the exception of the matches of Ukraine, which has not yet played all the matches due to unfortunate events, last weekend the qualifications for the Women’s EHF Euro 2022, which will take place between 4 and 20 November in Celje, Ljubljana, Skopje and Montenegro, were concluded. They are also known for all 16 national teams that will take part in Thursday’s draw on Castle Hill in the Slovenian capital.

Before the balls spin, the participating national teams of the European Handball Federation have been divided into four quality groups, according to the results of the last European Championships in Denmark and in the qualifiers. The first group consists of Norway, France, Denmark and Poland, the second the Netherlands, Montenegro, Hungary and Sweden, the third Slovenia, Northern Macedonia, Croatia and Germany and the fourth Spain, Romania, Serbia and Switzerland.

Even before the draw, one national team is already known, which will perform in an individual city in the first part of the November competition. Slovenia will play the first three matches in Celje, Northern Macedonia in Skopje, Montenegro in Podgorica, while the Hungarians will play in Ljubljana. The only possible competitors of the selected Slovenian coach Dragan Adžić from the second quality group remain the Netherlands and Sweden.

In the second part of the competition, the three best national teams of the groups of the first part will qualify. They will continue with the competition in Ljubljana and Skopje. In the center of Slovenia, all the matches of the finals will take place, in which two teams from the second part will qualify.

The Slovenian organizers are preparing an interesting accompanying program for Thursday’s event, and four well-known handball players will help with the draw. The event from Ljubljana Castle in Slovenia will be broadcast live on Arena Sport 1.
