Celje will be one of the four venues for the November Women’s EHF Euro 2022. In the first part of the competition, Slovenian handball players will compete in the Zlatorog Arena, which has hosted many sporting events in the past, and handball championships are far from foreign to them.
Zlatorog Arena has placed itself on the handball map with numerous competitions it has hosted in the past. The general before the November Women’s EHF Euro 2022 was the European Under-19 Handball Championship (2021), at which the Hungarians won the title.
It should not be forgotten that Zlatorog, which accommodates almost 6,000 people, is home to HC Celje Pivovarna Laško, one of the most successful sports clubs in Slovenia, which won the title of European champions in the 2003/04 season.
The Zlatorog Arena opened its doors in 2003, a few months before the start of the Men’s EHF Euro, hosted by Slovenia in 2004 (Ljubljana, Celje, Velenje and Koper). It was the championship when our national team wrote a silver fairy tale, and it all started in Zlatorog, where they played the matches of the first part.
This is certainly a good incentive for Slovenian handball players, who will play the matches of the Women’s EHF Euro 2022 group stage in Celje, and will compete against Denmark, Sweden and Serbia in Group B.
If you believe that our handball players can also write their own fairy tale and would like to be a part of it, secure your ticket as soon as possible. Packages are already available at the link below. Let the Zlatorog Arena be dressed in Slovenian colors in November!
